Week 46

Dear family,
This week was eventful..I don't know if I ever told you that we have started a 40 day fast with the ward here. It was quite an undertaking because we did not have the support we needed at first...but we sent around a sign up sheet and the 2nd week we sent it around it was full! It is pretty exciting because the ward is so small and so many people are willing to help us. We have already been able to talk to a lot more people from it. We met this really nice lady this week. She was kinda surprised when we knocked but she came outside (cigarette lit and ready) and talked to us for an hour. It was awesome. She lived in seattle for a while and had a mormon friend whom she loved and thought was such a great example but she has had a lot of bad experiences with church so she has not been to one for a while but she started talking about how much she loves the Salt Lake temple and how she wants to go in so badly and it was awesome. She told us we could come back tomorrow. We hope we will be able to help her realize that not all church is bad.
I think I also told you about the girls we met last week...Well we saw both of them this week and they are so nice. We have not gotten to teach them a whole lot but we have shared a few scriptures and they are still reading a little from the book of mormon which is awesome.
Wish us luck. Also on wednesday it was a terrible storm. We have recently been bought a weather tracker thing that plugs into the wall and warns us of bad weather and so the alarm kept going off. There was a huge tornado and flash flood warning. We still went out but as we were leaving brandy's the clouds started turning green and we made it home right as the rain started falling. The yard was flooded in minutes. it was crazy. The water did not stop for hours so we couldnt go out until book of mormon class that night and when we got there we heard it was canceled but the young women needed help any way with their new beginnings because a lot of people called and said they were not coming so we helped with that. It was alot of fun.
Thursday it was still pouring but it was not near as bad so we still went out with one of the ward members who takes us out every thursday. We also got to teach one guy on thursday night and he is still not done smoking but we read with him from 2Nephi 29 about how the gentiles do not think there is need for another book and as he was reading you could just see the gears in his head turning and when we were done the spirit worked so hard on him. He got so much from the  chapter and it was amazing. He realized that there is a need for another book and it validifies everything. Hopefully now he will stop smoking.  We saw another lady named too. I think i have also told you about her. She is nice and her husband is going through stage 4 lung cancer is close to the end and she just works so hard to support them and take care of him and loves when we visit but just is tired alot from her schedule so we have not taught her a whole ton but she still wants us to come over when we can. She does want this so badly though so I know one day she will accept it.
Sunday: We were able to see some less actives and we even got to meet a ladies husband who really has no interest in us but he sat in on our visit. At the end we shared Mosiah 8:15-18 and talked about how God works in patterns and has always called a prohpet and how lucky we are to be able to listen to one. He actually said that it makes sense. My thought: of course it does. Why would Heavenly Father leave us hanging when the world is in its most wicked state. I am glad people understand that sometimes.

It was a good week here in the mjm. Please keep writing and p-day is tuesday next week so you wont hear from me until then. I am most likely staying here in Picayune. KEEP WRITING. Love you all.
